WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ALL ABOUT SNOWBOARDING

    Allen11By Allen11January 11, 2023No Comments6 Mins Read

Winter is in full swing and people are enjoying every second of it. From wearing warm clothes, drinking piping hot coffees, sleeping till late morning, and watching snow sitting inside the house, winter is the time to remember. The shorter days, longer nights, cold air, low humidity, and quiet weather are all the things people enjoy during winter. Believe it or not but winter is the time for parties and all the major events, holidays, and fun times are planned in winter. Winter is also a great time for outdoor activities and one of the most popular activities in winter is snowboarding.

Snowboarding is a winter sport (it has to be) that involves descending a slope covered with snow while standing on a board attached to the rider’s feet. The boots  are specialized in mountain binding. The development of snowboarding was inspired by skateboarding, skiing, and surfing. Snowboarding developed in the United States in the 1960s and became a Winter Olympic Sport in 1998.

Snowboarding has been around since the 1920s when young boys and men would tie plywood or wooden plants from used barrels to their feet using clotheslines and horse reins to steer themselves down hills. Modern snowboarding began in 1965 when Sherman Poppen invented a toy for his daughter by fastening two skis together and attaching a rope to one end so she would have some control while gliding and standing on the board.

    Types of Snowboarding:

    1. Freeriding:

Freeriding is riding in any terrain and only bound by the mountain. This type of riding is best portrayed by riding massive peaks. This riding style is only restricted by access to mountains and contains certain risks.

    1. Free Style:

When in terrain parks, backcountry, or urban space, freestyle is a riding style where tricks are being performed. It is only restricted by one’s creativity.

    1. Urban:

Olympics are the reason Urban Snowboarding is famous. It involved performing tricks while riding through a massive U-Shaped pipe at high speeds.

    1. Boardercross/ Race

This side of snowboarding includes races such as slalom, giant slalom, and boardercross. This riding style is an adaptation of BMX riding where four riders race down a series of jumps, hops, berms, etc., etc. Slalom racing is racing through a series of gates.

    FIRST-TIME SKATEBOARDING:

Whether it’s your friend who has asked you to come along with them for snowboarding or it’s the YouTube video that has intrigued you, snowboarding is an art.

Here is what you need to do to plan your first time skiing or snowboarding:

    1. Choose a skit resort:

For the first time on the ice, pick a resort that has what you need. You should look into the quality of lessons, cost, and distance from home, and resort amenities.

    1. Sign up for a lesson:

Never do snowboarding on your own when it’s your first time. Learn from the experts and choose between group lessons with other beginners or a private lesson for one-on-one instruction.

    1. Buy a lift ticket:

Before you hop on the chair lift and snowboard down the giant mountain, you need a lift ticket. You can buy online in advance or in person at the resort. Many lesson programs for beginners include lift tickets.

    1. Rent equipment:

If it’s your first time down the mountain, don’t buy new equipment. Rent gear from a ski resort or an outdoor shop that will fit right and perform well.

    1. Plan your travel day:

Check the weather and road conditions when planning for snowboarding. Make sure your car is ready for winter driving; inspect brakes, fluids, and sensors while you take your car on the road. Also, look for parking space at the resort before you leave your house.

    1. Dress for the weather:

It would be stupid to say that you should pack warm clothes for snowboarding. But check the forecast before leaving home so that you might have a better idea of how cold the weather will be. Dress in a base layer, middle layer, and outer layer so you can add or remove clothing based on your activity level and the weather.

    1. Understand trial:

Don’t think you are a pro when snowboarding for the first time. Ski resorts mark their trails with a color-shape rating system. You will have to spend your entire first day on green circle trails which are the easiest.

Best Gears to Pack for Snowboarding:

    1. Burton Men’s Custom Camber Snowboard:

Since 1996, the camber snowboard has reigned supreme and has constantly evolved with a proven formula that combines time-honored design with cutting-edge ingredients. Offered in two versions, the board has a symmetrical design that allows riders to ride comfortably in both regular and switch modes.

The jacket is waterproof and has a design that allows for a full range of motion so you can move and grove whole down the mountain. The Jacket has three-layer Gore-Tex fabric and is very breathable.
